Toronto, November 11, 2009 – A consortium of industry experts has come together to launch CleanTech North, an organization focused on helping early-stage clean tech companies harness the unique position Canada holds to excel in a global marketplace.

The emerging Clean Technology industry is one that is poised for exponential growth during the next 10 years. Utilities are looking for ways to reduce consumptions loads while consumers are looking for ways to use fuel sources more responsibly. The question is how do we harness Canadian talent to impact this change?

“Canadians have a demonstrated history of delivering engineering excellence but all too often, fail to commercialize these innovations on a world stage,” said Gary Schwartz, Founder, CleanTech North. “We have brought together many of the brightest minds in Canadian business to help early-stage clean tech companies reach their potential whether it be through general business mentorship, law, or helping raise capital.”

To celebrate the launch of CleanTech North, the organization is hosting a half-day conference to help Canadian businesses understand what they need to do to successfully compete on the global Clean Technology stage and how they can drive a new world order.

“Cavet Technologies has been working with CleanTech North for a few months now,” said David Berg, Co-Founder, CleanTech North. “The level of expertise and the keen insight that CleanTech North has been able to offer our organization has already helped us elevate our positioning and take some of the necessary steps in becoming a global leader in the Clean Technology space. We can only look towards the future, which currently seems very promising.

The following companies are proud to be working as part of CleanTech North: Behr & Associates, Cooley Godward Kronish LLP, GCI Group, Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP, GrowthWorks, HKMB HUB International, MaRS Discovery District, National Angel Capital Organization, PricewaterhouseCoopers and RBC Royal Bank.
